9REN has received the Invensys Operations Management Open Contest Award in the “Asset Excellence” category. The award, which rewards the innovative use of Invensys solutions and products aimed at obtaining significant business results, acknowledges 9REN’s EOSystem as an optimal Monitoring System.

EOSystem comprises a platform for remote integration of renewable energy plants within a single, efficient, reliable control room. The use of Invensys solutions has made it possible to cut the number of people needed to monitor all the plants connected to the EOSystem, and to reduce inactivity time by 50%. The length of time needed to identify a drop in production has also been cut from a month to two days, and there have been improvements of 5% in solar tracking production. Lastly, and thanks to Invensys, there has been an improvement in data collection and report presentation.

The award, which rewards company’s quality and professionalism, acknowledges 9REN as one of the leading businesses in the energy market.

At the beginning of 2008, 9REN identified the need to implement a new monitoring system able to meet specific, extremely concrete requirements. The choice went to Wonderware, a brand within the Invensys Operation Manager division, which boasts a technology meeting the specific requirements insofar as based on flexibility aimed at allowing reliable monitoring of any source of energy production. Said software also ensures optimal control of plants and makes it possible to improve the production coefficients of installed plants, offering clients maximum return on investment.

In addition to the initial installation, Wonderware technology is currently being applied to all 9REN’s photovoltaic fields in Italy and Spain, as well as to 30 low-temperature solar thermal generation plants located in Spain. As far as the future is concerned, 9REN plans to connect all new plants to the new control architecture with Wonderware.
